Patchwork - Arts Project

What is PATCHWORK?

This is an exciting, unique and major Arts Project. Free to enter and to participate in for British and Irish Schools, children and young adults. An exercise in cooperation and an illustration of what people can achieve when they work together.   Accompanying Learning Support Material will relate to the Art & Design, Citizenship, Literacy and History curricula of England, Northern Ireland Scotland and Wales.

Quick Outline

 

Groups and individuals (mainly students aged 5-18) will produce one small artwork to a design brief. When these pieces are brought together and assembled they will create one massive, spectacular piece of ART!


Free to Enter, Free to participate in, Free Learning Support Material

Learning Support Material relating to the project (including classroom activities, lesson plans and details of free extra-curricula cultural and educational activities) will be made available to teachers throughout the duration of the project. These will also relate to the Art & Design, English Language, English Literature and History curricula of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales*.

INSPIRATION!

INSPIRATION is the Introductory Module.  This will look at comparable human projects, including the construction of Offa's Dyke and the creation of the Bayeaux Tapestry. A list of Public Art Galleries with a list of paintings participants might like to go and see (free of charge) will also be published.


LITERARY PATCHWORK

 

More details of this project will be published in October 2007.  This part of the project will be of particular interest to teachers of English Language (from Reception Classes to Seniors). To be consulted please email editor@keystages.net The theme will be decided in consultation with schools throughout Britain and Ireland*. As with the Visual Arts Project, the aims of the Literary Project will be:
